Abyssinian Cat

Abyssinian Cat

Some people believe that the Abyssinian Cat or Aby is one of the sacred cat of Egypt, Ethiopia, India and Kenya. But the exact origin of this breed is obscure. The Abyssinian shape resembles the African Wild Cats. Recent studies have indicated that the coast of Indian Ocean between Singapore and Ceylon is the homeland of the Abyssinian Tabby color pattern - Abyssinians are one of the oldest breeds and possibly the natural breed of all the purebred cats in the world.

However there are some studies that say that the Abyssinian has been created by selective breeding in England from English tabby cats. Tabbies are found globally and they are well known for its short-ticked coat.
